Durham

Durham. A small pretty city.

We were there early. The city centre was extremely quiet...

River Wear. There are rapids everywhere. People still canoe though.

NewcastleGateshead

"Newcastle (a city on the north bank of the River Tyne) and Gateshead (a town on the south bank of River Tyne) have been transformed into a single cultural and cosmopolitan visitor destination called NewcastleGateshead." -quoted from the NewcastleGateshead visitor information booklet.

The north bank is in the foreground (Newcastle) and in the background, the south bank is Gateshead.

That's the Gateshead Millenium bridge. The cables are the engineering beauty of this structure. Well done engineers, you have made this possible.

Millenium Bridge by night. It opens and closes like an eyelid to let ships pass.

A nice valley behind us.

The Angel of the North welcomes visitors who come by road from the south. The iconic sculpture is the biggest in Britain. It is the largest angel structure in the world. It is as wide as Statue of Liberty is tall.

Valentine's Day

Something weird for Valentine's Day dinner, only the chocolate heart is good. Everthing else.. tasted.. not too good.

Was at the 'Old Bar' watching Arsenal vs Bolton. I thought Bolton had a chance but.. too bad.

This cute looking mouse was found in of the computer labs. It is really huge and looks exactly like a...rat.

For Whom Ye Play?

Heard a sermon about the pastor learning to play guitar, with fingers bleeding. Reminded me about what Kar Kit once asked me when I asked him to impart me some skills,

"Why do you want to learn guitar?" I scratched my head for a bit.
"To praise Him."
"Ok, I will teach you then."

Imperial War Museum. The concept of architectural design is really creative. "I have imagined globe broken into fragments and taken the pieces to form a building.." - Daniel Libeskind, architect. It's not only about the exterior, the interior design is another formidable act. Be there to FEEL it. One of the 'must-sees', according to 'Rough Guides, England'.

Pilgrimage to Manchester United FC, Old Trafford Stadium.

The Church of Scientology. Went in there to check out their beliefs.

York

The ancient city of York is a place of great cultural and historical heritage. The architecture is impressive. No modern buildings in the city except for the train station perhaps. If you are into architecture this is.. THE place.


York Minster. Constantine's statue just at the right hand corner. Supposedly 4 quid for a day ticket, but we arrived earlier than the opening time, ticket office was closed and we got a 100% discount. Zero pound entry. =P

The postcard I drew at York City Art Gallery. Should be kept in the album there. I wonder if anyone of you will get to see the real thing in the gallery next time?

Liverpool

The north west of England, Liverpool. It was a short but enriching trip. We have seen most of Liverpool's attractions in the shortest time possible. Most of the time was spent running. Catching the ferry, rushing to the cathedral minutes before it closed... Here are some highlights.

Road signs. Give you a sense of assurance when you are new to the city. Exactly the same in life, identifying the Sign, will lead you to the Way and to Life.

Royal Liver Building to the far right. See those studs at the top of the two towers? Those are the liver birds. Welcome to Liverpool.

Albert Dock. Just a dock with a few ships, and the brilliant Maritime Museum. The best thing about it: Admission free.

Beatles Story, the story unfolds right from the start when Lennon and Mcartney met. You will be dreaming of the yellow submarine when you come out.
